# Update 5.4.0 To last version

Is it possible to update our current version of application: WorkflowGen 5.4.0 Administration to current one. If yes, what are requirements for this process and what will be needed to do so?

Hi Chris,

You can definitely upgrade from WorkflowGen 5.4.0 to [version 7.16.3](https://discuss.workflowgen.com/t/workflowgen-7-16-3/) (unless you’re using Oracle database - see below).

Just carefully follow the instructions in the [WorkflowGen Upgrade Guide](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-upgrade-guide/). Since you’re upgrading from a pretty old version, you’ll have to apply all of the changes in the [Update the web configuration file](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-upgrade-guide/workflowgen-upgrade#update-the-web-configuration-file) section, and you’ll have to run the [database update scripts](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-upgrade-guide/workflowgen-upgrade#upgrade-the-workflowgen-database). Note that Oracle database is no longer supported as of WorkflowGen 7.16.0. If you’re using Oracle and want to keep using it, you can upgrade to [version 7.15.6](https://discuss.workflowgen.com/t/workflowgen-7-15-6/1505) instead, but we do recommend that our clients using Oracle migrate to MS SQL Server. In this case, follow the instructions in the [version 7.15.6 Upgrade Guide](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-upgrade-guide/v/7.15.6/).

You’ll also have to make the changes in the [Important Notes Before Upgrading](https://docs.advantys.com/workflowgen-upgrade-guide/important-notes-before-upgrading) section as well.
